Home Physics … And then there were three

2018 Nobel Prize for Physics goes to a woman scientist, Donna Strickland. Donna, together with her colleague, discovered in 80s’ how to make laser beams more powerful. Since then, her discovery has allowed laser beams to be way more precise and powerful, allowing the world to use laser in a multitude of areas, for ex eye surgery. Before Donna, only two other women had won this prestigious prize. Do you know who they are? And can we speculate why there have been so few women in the field of physics? By the way, Donna didn’t even have a Wikipedia page until she won the Nobel (it then appeared hastily that day), and she is not even a full professor but an associate professor!
